detox

I’ve been detoxing for a few weeks now. I haven’t cut drugs out of my life completely… that would just be weird. Straight edge people are weird. But I’ve cut down on my consumption of “marijuana cigarettes”. The reason for this cut down is because I’ve been developing some breathing problems during light physical activity. It’s just mild asthma, but I’ve had moments where I’ve had difficulty catching my breath after a quick walk or run. I’ve been feeling ridiculously better since I’ve cut down though so that’s a plus. I feel way more energetic. I will once in a while treat myself to the occasional drag or bong hit, but I don’t think I can go as hard as I used to with my friends. I wish I still had the health I had when I was 18. I think I can get back to that if I start working out regularly. The hard part is keeping it up. I’ve never been a fan of exercise. I like walking and doing sit-ups/push-ups, but that’s about it. Forcing myself to do other physical exertion activities will be quite the feat. It’s right up there with quitting my sugar and caffeine addiction.

Good news is that I landed a new job. I work at a movie theatre now. I won’t say which one because it’s like a massive company with theatres located all over Canada from Quebec all the way to British Columbia. I don’t want my employers to randomly stumble upon this blog and read all about my drug use. That would be most unfortunate. I’m only working there part-time so I have to find a second job. The interview was amazing. I schmoozed and charmed the hell out of the Senior Manager. It turns out she’s an amateur screenwriter herself trying to write a feature length screenplay on her free time. I joked about Twilight with her and she was like “THANK GOD THAT’S OVER”. Though it probably won’t be long before they release 18+ movie one day for Fifty Shades of Grey and it’ll be back to unrealistic scenarios and cheesy dialogue. If I can keep this job for a while there may be a chance I can ask for a transfer to a theatre in Toronto once I’m financially ready to move there.

I imagine I probably won’t be able to get away with much working at the movie theatre though. I don’t think I’ve seen a single theatre rep with facial piercings in all my time of attending movie theatres. I may be able to get away with more tattoos because I think I’m allowed to wear a long sleeve shirt underneath my uniform. With time I’d like to get a sleeve done. I have plenty of design ideas stored away, but I would pay a shit ton of money to have the tattoo artist Guy le Tatooer tattoo me. His work is absolutely beautiful and timeless. His tattoo style fits my personal aesthetic perfectly. Unfortunately for me, he only seems to tour around Europe and Australasia to do his tattoo work. I’ll just have to design something myself in a similar fashion and hope that a tattoo artist over here is able to pull it off. It’s very detailed and time-consuming work requiring patience and sharp eyes. It’s basically like a permanent blackwork henna tattoo.
